Bullets fired at Wasim Akram's car in Karachi

Karachi, Aug 5: Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram escaped unhurt after bullets were fired at his car in Karachi on Wednesday (August 5), according local media reports.

The incident took place on Wednesday afternoon near the National Stadium, initial reports claimed. He was going to the stadium to train Pakistani bowlers.

"I was going to the cricket stadium. Number plate of the attacker's vehicle has been noted and given to police," Akram told India's "ABP News".

According to Pakistan's "Geo TV", a vehicle rammed into Akram's car from behind. "Some guards and the owner of the other vehicle came out and shot at Wasim, barely missing him," the report said.

"The bullet hit my car's tyres but I remained safe," Akram was quoted as saying by "Geo TV".

"I am still in shock. There was no threat. I was going to to stadium for the camp. Your (media) job is to find out who that person was. If he can do it with me, then you can imagine what he would do with the common man," Akram told "Express News" channel.

Akram, one of the fast bowling legends the game has seen, was recently roped in by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to train young pacemen. He was on way to the stadium today for the same assignment. He works with Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Kolkata Knight Riders as their bowling coach.
