Kolkata, Nov 7 (UNI) Cricket Association of Bengal's president Jagmohan Dalmiya today said the CAB would felicitate India's most successful cricket captain Sourav Ganguly at Eden Gardens on December 7.
'' We had waited till the last minute and hoped that Sourav would reconsider his decision to retire from international cricket. But during the function at Nagpur yesterday, we saw that he had made up his mind. We fully respect his decision and the CAB would felicitate him in a biftting manner,'' Dalmiya said in a statement.
He said, ''This felicitation is not only an acknowledgement of a glittering international career, but is also an appreciation of Sourav's contribution to India and Bengal cricket for over a decade and half.'' Although the details of the function were yet to be finalised, the CAB is understood to make it on a grand scale.
''Sourav has continued to inspire and enthrall his fans in international cricket and to win laurels for the nation with an amazing alacrity. The CAB, of which he is an integral part, would take this opportunity to honour his contribution,'' Dalmiya said.
