'Can I bring my Girlfriend?' - Gambhir shares first interaction with KKR Star
Kolkata Knight Riders have just lifted their 3rd IPL title after beating Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2024 Final in Chennai.
The Knight Riders were a force in the IPL and showed their prowess in the grand final as well, decimating the Orange Army by 8 wickets.

As they lifted the title after a decade, it was KKR's old war horse Sunil Narine who shone throughout the competition. Narine scored a whopping 488 runs and picked up 17 wickets, which made him the Most Valuable Player of the season.
Sunil Narine's batting prowess is not unknown, but it was KKR mentor Gautam Gambhir who convinced the West Indies star to bat up the order after a long time, which in turn resulted brilliantly for the Knight Riders.
After the victory, both Narine and Gambhir were seen lifting each other in joy. Being the men of little emotions, it was heartwarming for the fans to see the duo in utter ecstasy after the magnificent victory of the Knight Riders.
Narine joined the Kolkata outfit back in 2012, and since then has been an everpresent name for KKR. Gambhir, in a recent chat, opened up on his relationship with Narine and shared some excellent anecdotes.
"Me and Narine are similar characters, and so are our emotions. I still remember that when Narine first came into the IPL in 2012, it was in Jaipur, and we were going for practice, and I told him to come join for lunch. He was so shy that he did not say a single word during lunch, and the first question that he eventually asked was, 'Can I bring my girlfriend to the IPL?," Gambhir said during an interview with Sportskeeda.
Gambhir also revealed the bondage they have built over the years, which has been aided by their similar nature.
"He was so quiet that first season, but now, we can talk about anything. He is like a brother to me. I don't see him as a friend, I don't see him as a teammate, I see him as a brother. If I need him or he needs me, I think we are just one call away, that is the sort of relationship that we have built. We do not get excited much, we do not show too many emotions, we are not flamboyant, we just do the job and come back," the KKR mentor said.
It has been a brilliant season for KKR and the eyes will be on Gambhir, who revolutionized the Knights. But Gambhir's role with KKR has to be seen as the former India player has been linked with the head coach role of Team India.
