Can Sangakkara equal Bradman's record in India Test series?

Bengaluru, Aug 4: Sri Lanka's Kumar Sangakkara, one of the greats of the game, will bid adieu to international cricket this month after the 2nd Test against India in Colombo.

The 37-year-old left-handed batsman will retire from international cricket midway through the 3-match rubber. He had announced his decision of quitting, in June this year.

Sangakkara will bid adieu to international cricket

The first Test will be played in Galle from August 12 while the second, Sangakkara's farewell match, begins on August 20 in Colombo (P Sara Oval).

Sangakkara will have a maximum of 4 visits to the crease to try and match Sir Don Bradman and even go past the late Australian in terms of most double centuries in the 5-day format.

With 12 double tons in just 52 Tests, Bradman on top followed by Sangakkara with 11. The home fans will be hoping that the left-hander emulates Bradman, against India.

Sangakkara, who made his Test debut in the year 2000, against South Africa in Galle, has so far played 132 matches. He is the 5th highest run scorer in Tests with 12,305 runs. In the most Test centuries list, Sangakkara is 4th with 38 three-figure scores.

Earlier this year, Sangakkara retired from ODIs after the ICC World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. He ended the format with 14,234 runs from 404 matches with 25 hundreds.
