Canada have officially booked their spot in the 2026 ICC Men's T20 World Cup, co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, following a dominant campaign at the Americas Regional Qualifier. The hosts confirmed their qualification with a commanding victory over the Bahamas, their fifth consecutive win in the tournament.
In their final group-stage clash, Canadian bowlers made short work of the Bahamian batting line-up, bundling them out for a paltry 57 runs. Left-arm seamer Kaleem Sana and off-spinner Shivam Sharma starred with the ball, taking three wickets each to crush any hopes of resistance from the visitors.

The modest target was chased down in just 5.3 overs, with Dilpreet Bajwa smashing an unbeaten 36 off just 14 deliveries to seal the deal in emphatic style.
Coming into the qualifiers as favourites, having appeared in the 2024 edition of the Men's T20 World Cup held in the USA and the Caribbean, Canada lived up to expectations throughout the tournament. Led by captain Nicholas Kirton, the team opened their campaign with a statement-making 110-run victory over Bermuda. This was followed by a 59-run win against the Cayman Islands and a thumping 10-wicket demolition of the Bahamas in their initial meeting.
One of the most unique matches of the tournament came against the Cayman Islands in their second encounter-a game reduced to five overs per side due to weather. Canada still managed to post 82 runs and secured a 42-run win, once again showcasing their adaptability and dominance.
With this unbeaten run, Canada now joins an elite list of teams confirmed for the 20-team tournament. Apart from hosts India and Sri Lanka, other confirmed participants include Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, Ireland, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, the United States, and West Indies.
The remaining seven spots will be filled through upcoming Regional Qualifiers: two teams from the Europe Qualifier (July 5-11), two from the Africa Qualifier (September 18-October 4), and three from the combined Asia-East Asia Pacific (Asia-EAP) Qualifier scheduled for October 1-17.
Canada's clinical campaign has not only secured them a place on the global stage but also reaffirmed their growing status in international T20 cricket.
