'Captain Cool' MS Dhoni Uses DRS to Beat The Heat in ICC Champions Trophy Promo - Watch

By MyKhel Staff

Mahendra Singh Dhoni calls for DRS (Dhoni Refrigeration System) n the new Star Sports promo for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025, scheduled to be held in Pakistan and UAE from February 19.

Eight teams - India, Pakistan, New Zealand, Bangladesh, Australia, England, Afghanistan and South Africa - will do battle in the 50-over show-piece ICC tournament which returns after eight years of hiatus.

Captain cool, he is fondly known, but MS Dhoni sports an icy avatar as he looks to to beat the heat in the latest advertisement for the ICC tournament, which will see some close contests with no room for comfort.

In the video posted by Star Sports, the official broadcaster of the tournament, Dhoni talks about how challenging it will be for a fan to watch matches then to be a captain on the field. The former skipper, who led Team India to the Champions Trophy in 2013, added the eight-team tournament will go down to the wire, needing lots of ice to keep calm.

"As a captain one can be cool, but being a fan and watching ICC Champions Trophy is not so cool. A team may be strong, but lose one match and you are knocked out of the tournament," Dhoni said in the video before calling for ice shower.

Buckets of ice are poured over 'Captain Cool' who then summons a DRS, not the famed Dhoni Referral System, but Dhoni Refrigeration System (DRS), to stay cool when the pressure builds and intensity rises during the high-voltage matches.

Speaking about the marquee tournament and the campaign film, MS Dhoni said, "The ICC Men's Champions Trophy has always been a special tournament to me-it's where the best in the world go toe-to-toe in high-stakes, do-or-die matches. While players can manage the pressure on-field, the excitement and nerves for fans are on another level. Being part of this film was nostalgic, but I'm thrilled to connect with fans, watching every game like one of them this time around."

Team India is in Group A of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 alongside hosts Pakistan, Bangladesh and New Zealand. However, the Men in Blue will play all their matches in Dubai, UAE as they aim to win the second successive ICC title under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma.

As for Dhoni, the former Indian skipper is set to feature in the Indian Premier League (IPL) with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) after the franchise retained the services of the 43-year-old before the IPL 2025 Mega Auction.
