Castrol launches Asian Cricket awards; first awards in Pak

Mumbai, Jun 5 (UNI) Castrol today announced the launch of their Asian Cricket Awards, scheduled to be held at Karachi in Pakistan, on June 27.

The announcement was made here at a function by BP Lubricants -- Africa, Middle East, Turkey and South Asia Chief Executive Naveen Kshatriya, in the presence of Rahul Dravid, Sanath Jayasuriya and Wasim Akram, who were named as the ambassadors of the Castrol Asian Cricket Awards.

On the occasion, the life size replica of the glittering Castrol Asian Cricket Awards was also unveiled.

These awards will honour and felicitate Asian cricketers on a biennial basis across the three major formats of the game -- Test, Oneday internationals and T20.

There will be ten awards in all, which include the Castrol Asian Cricketer of the Year (Overall), Castrol Asian Bastman of the year (Overall), Castrol Asian Bowler of the Year (Overall), Castrol Asian Fielder of the Year (Overall), Castrol Asian Test Batsman of the year, Castrol Asian Test Bowler of the Year, Castrol Asian ODI Batsman of the Year, Castrol Asian ODI Bowler of the Year, Castrol Asian T20 Bastman of the Year and Castrol Asian T20 Bowler of the Year.

Harsha Bhogle, who was also present on the occasion, involved the trio in an interesting discussion on the subject 'Is there an Asian way of playing cricket?'.
