CCL 2025: Bengal Tigers Cruise to Victory with Dominant Chase Against Punjab De Sher

By MyKhel Staff

CCL 2025: Bengal Tigers continued their unbeaten run in the tournament with another dominant performance, comfortably defeating Punjab De Sher on the second day of the tournament at Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on February 9. This was also their second win in the space of 24 hours.

Chasing a modest target of 84, defending champions Bengal overhauled the total in just 7.3 overs in the second innings, cementing their status as the team to beat. Jammy Banerjee starred with an all-round performance as he remained unbeaten in both innings, including a knock of 65. He also took two wickets on the day.

Earlier in the match, Punjab De Sher's batting lineup struggled to gain momentum. Despite a fighting knock from Harrdy Sandhu, who top-scored with 42, Punjab could only manage 82/7 in their second innings. Bengal's bowlers were relentless, with Rahul and Ratnadeep keeping things tight and never allowing Punjab to break free.

Bengal's chase got off to a slightly shaky start as they lost two early wickets. However, Jammy Banerjee and Yusuf Chisti quickly took control, ensuring there were no further hiccups. Banerjee remained unbeaten on 24, while Chisti's quickfire 22 included a couple of massive sixes that left Punjab's bowlers searching for answers. Ninja's over, which went for 14 runs, put the final nail in the coffin for Punjab, who failed to contain Bengal's aggressive batting.

With two wins in as many days, Bengal Tigers have firmly established themselves as the frontrunners in the tournament. Their bowling unit has been remarkably consistent, and their batting lineup looks formidable, capable of chasing down totals with ease. Yusuf Chisti's ability to finish matches under pressure has been a significant boost for the team, while Banerjee's steady presence in the middle has ensured stability.

On the other hand, Punjab De Sher will have to regroup quickly after back-to-back losses. While Sandhu's form with the bat is a positive takeaway, their bowling attack has struggled to contain aggressive opposition lineups.

Bengal Tigers' latest victory further solidifies their reputation as one of the most dominant sides in the league. With their unbeaten streak intact, they will now look to continue their momentum and extend their winning run in the upcoming fixtures. Meanwhile, Punjab De Sher face an uphill battle to get their campaign back on track before it's too late.
