CCL 2025: Punjab De Sher Outclass Bengal Tigers By 8 Wickets To Book Final Spot

By MyKhel Staff

Punjab De Sher delivered a dominant performance to defeat Bengal Tigers by eight wickets and secure their place in the CCL 2025 final on Saturday in Mysore. Led by an all-round effort from Harrdy Sandhu, Punjab outplayed the defending champions in both innings.

Bengal Tigers, batting first, suffered an early collapse. Harrdy Sandhu struck in the first over, dismissing Jammy for a duck. Punjab's bowlers kept up the pressure as Aditya and Ninja picked up wickets, reducing Bengal to 6/2 within two overs.

Their troubles deepened when captain Jisshu Sengupta fell after miscuing a shot to slips, leaving his team at 8/3. Despite the early setbacks, Rahul played a crucial knock of 46 runs, helping Bengal recover to 38/4 in six overs. However, wickets continued to tumble, and Punjab's bowlers, led by Harrdy Sandhu with two wickets, ensured that Bengal managed only 88/7 in 10 overs.

Punjab De Sher also faced some resistance when Babbal Rai was dismissed early following a DRS review. Bengal's bowlers kept it tight, and Punjab lost another wicket inside four overs, with Rahul and Aditya picking up a wicket each. At 30/2, Punjab needed stability, which came from Karan and Harrdy. Their partnership helped Punjab reach 95/7 in 10 overs, giving them a seven-run lead.

Needing a strong second-innings effort, Bengal Tigers faltered once more. Punjab's bowlers dominated, and Bengal were reduced to 5/2 within two overs. Jisshu and Yusuf tried to rescue the innings with scores of 13 and 24, respectively, but the wickets kept falling. Eventually, Bengal was bowled out for just 71 runs, setting Punjab a target of 65.

Chasing a modest target, Punjab got off to a solid start. Anuj and Harrdy batted aggressively, scoring 34* and 23, respectively, ensuring there were no hiccups. Punjab reached 65/2, securing a comfortable eight-wicket victory. With this win, Punjab De Sher have booked their place in the CCL final for the first-time ever. Bengal, the defending champions, struggled with the bat in both innings, while Harrdy Sandhu's all-round performance played a crucial role in Punjab's triumph.
