Every great journey begins with a single step. For Rishabh Pant, that step was taken in the bustling heart of New Delhi, where dreams of cricketing glory began to take shape.

Born on October 4, 1997, Pant is now recognized as Team India's premier wicketkeeper-batter across formats, a testament to his dedication and talent.

At just 12 years old, Rishabh embarked on his cricketing journey, moving to New Delhi with his mother to join a cricket academy. Remarkably, his first night in the city was spent at a Gurudwara, a symbol of the humble beginnings that would fuel his rise in the sport.

After years of hard work and perseverance, Pant made his first-class debut in the Ranji Trophy. Just a month later, he stepped onto the List A stage during the 2015-16 Vijay Hazare Trophy.

It was during the 2016-17 Ranji Trophy that Pant truly announced his arrival, scoring a staggering 308 runs against Maharashtra. This remarkable achievement made him the third youngest player to achieve a triple century in first-class cricket, catapulting him into the national spotlight.

In 2016, Pant was selected for the India Under-19 team, and on the same day, he received a lucrative Indian Premier League (IPL) contract with the Delhi Daredevils, now known as Delhi Capitals.

The franchise snapped him up for a staggering Rs 1.9 crore, a sign of the potential everyone saw in him. His breakthrough season came in 2017, where he racked up 366 runs in just 14 innings, showcasing his explosive batting style.

Pant made his international debut in 2017 during a T20I against England, where he scored 5 not out from 3 balls. However, it's in Test cricket where he truly shines.

He has already matched the legendary MS Dhoni's record for Test centuries and played a pivotal role in India's historic win over Australia at the Gabba in Brisbane-a match that will be etched in the annals of cricket history.

Now, as he turns 27, Pant continues to prove his mettle. He recently celebrated a triumphant return to the Test arena by scoring a century against Bangladesh, marking his comeback after recovering from the serious injuries he sustained in a near-fatal car crash in December 2022.
