Champions Trophy 2025: A Last Dance? India players who may play their final ICC Tournament

By MyKhel Staff

India will commence their Champions Trophy 2025 journey with a massive encounter against Bangladesh on Thursday (February 20).

India are placed in Group A alongside Pakistan, New Zealand, and Bangladesh. Due to political tensions, India's matches are scheduled at a neutral venue in Dubai.

India players who may play their final ICC Tournament

Several India stalwarts will be in action in the Champions Trophy. Rohit Sharma, as captain, has pressure on him along with head coach Gautam Gambhir. Although team India won the T20 World Cup last year, they haven't won a 50-over ICC tournament in almost 12 years.

India's last ICC success in ODIs was in the Champions Trophy in 2013, and following that, they have lost two finals - Champions Trophy 2017 and ODI World Cup 2023.

Rohit Sharma, along with other senior players, will be desperate to win the tournament in Dubai. But if things go south for India, there will be ramifications. In terms of ICC tournaments, this may well be the last for some of the superstars-

Rohit Sharma

Serving as the captain, Rohit Sharma has been instrumental in India's cricketing successes over the past decade. Having already retired from T20 Internationals after securing the T20 World Cup in 2024, Rohit, now 37, might consider the Champions Trophy his final ICC event, aiming to conclude his illustrious career on a high note. This will be the 17th ICC tournament for Rohit Sharma, and may well be the last.

Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli, renowned for his exceptional batting prowess, also stepped away from T20 Internationals following the 2024 World Cup victory. At 36, with a career adorned with numerous records and accolades, Kohli may view the 2025 Champions Trophy as his last opportunity to secure another major ICC title for India.

Ravindra Jadeja

The dynamic all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who played a pivotal role in India's T20 World Cup triumph, joined his teammates in retiring from T20 Internationals in 2024.
Approaching his mid-30s, Jadeja might see the current Champions Trophy as his final appearance in an ICC tournament, aiming to contribute significantly to India's campaign.
