Champions Trophy 2025: England were on the receiving end during their Champions Trophy fixture against South Africa in Karachi after their 7-wicket loss on Saturday officially ended their dismal campaign.
With this loss, the Three Lions have joined an unwanted list, who have lost all three matches in the group stage of the competition. Pakistan were the last team to achieve this embarrassing feat back in the 2013 edition, where the Indians emerged champions.

3 - West Indies in 2009
3 - Pakistan in 2013
3 - England in 2025
Speaking of the match, Rassie van der Dussen's unbeaten 72 off 87 balls powered South Africa into the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 semi-finals with a commanding victory. His composed half-century capped a dominant performance as South Africa topped Group B with two victories and a washout from three matches.
Chasing a modest 180, the Proteas cruised to 181-3 in just 29.1 overs after England, already eliminated, faltered with the bat. Opting to bat first, England collapsed for 179 in 38.2 overs, lacking intent and direction. Marco Jansen (3-39) and Wiaan Mulder (3-25) ripped through the batting lineup to set the tone for South Africa's easy chase.
England's defeat capped off a forgettable campaign, having already lost to Australia and Afghanistan, making it a winless tournament. It also marked the end of Jos Buttler's captaincy, following England's disappointing runs in the 2024 T20 World Cup and the 2023 ODI World Cup.
With this win, South Africa's semi-final spot was confirmed while Afghanistan was knocked out. Australia also advanced from Group B and will await the outcome of Sunday's clash between India and New Zealand to determine their opponent.
