India comfortably chased the target in 42.3 overs, with Kohli leading the charge with a composed 100* off 111 balls. His innings not only ensured India's victory but also saw him achieve multiple milestones.
During Pakistan's innings, Kohli claimed a record in the field by surpassing Mohammad Azharuddin's tally of 156 catches, becoming India's most successful fielder in ODIs. With the bat, he reached yet another landmark, becoming the fastest batter to amass 14,000 ODI runs-achieving the feat 63 innings quicker than the previous record holder, Sachin Tendulkar.
The win propelled India to the top of the Group A standings with four points and a net run rate (NRR) of 0.647. New Zealand, who defeated Pakistan in their opening match, sit second with two points and a superior NRR of 1.200.
India's next challenge in the Champions Trophy will be against New Zealand at the same venue next Sunday.
