The Indian bowlers may have to be ready for action as early as 40 hours after the New Zealand clash for a 50-over marathon in the Champions Trophy 2025.
As India are bowling second in the match against New Zealand, the bowlers may have a reduced time period to recuperate ahead of the semifinal.

The scheduling of the Champions Trophy due to the hybrid model meant India will be playing the first semifinal in Dubai. India are set to play on March 4, 2025, which means the bowlers may have to work again soon. This scenario would result in a tight turnaround from their last group match on March 2 to the semi-final on March 4, allowing approximately 40 hours between games.
Due to the ICC scheduling, they will just have a day's break before the semifinal. And as India are bowling second against New Zealand, the bowlers will have curbed time period for recovery. If India bowl first in the semifinal, that will mean that the bowlers and fielders shall have only about 36-39 hours gap before the next match, which is not advisable for ODI cricket, especially in Dubai's conditions.
Fast bowlers and all-rounders are particularly susceptible to fatigue due to the physical demands of bowling and fielding.
Both Australia and South Africa have already travelled to Dubai and preparing for the potential semifinal clash. However, one of the teams will have to fly back to Pakistan, which shall only be determined after India's match against New Zealand. The potential logistical burden results from the hybrid model. If India win against the Kiwis, South Africa will travel back to Lahore, while a defeat for India would mean Australia boarding the plane back along with their Oceanian neighbours New Zealand for the semifinal in Lahore, which is a 2000-km air travel from Dubai.
