Champions Trophy 2025: India Jersey features Pakistan imprint as Rohit, Virat flaunt new kit

By MyKhel Staff

As team India hit the Champions Trophy mode soon, the entire team was in for the International Cricket Council's (ICC) Media Day on Monday (February 17).

The team was at the ICC studio in Dubai as they posed for the Champions Trophy images, wearing their new jersey.

India captain Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, and Ravindra Jadeja were among the players who showcased their posing skills in front of the camera. As the Indian team donned the new attire for the tournament, the focus was rather on the right side of their kit, which consists of the Champions Trophy emblem.

The image that grabbed everyone's attention was the mention of the host nation, Pakistan, printed on the jersey.

ICC shared photographs of the Indian players as they received their ICC awards and Team of the Year caps ahead of the much-anticipated tournament. The images prominently showcased their fresh look for the competition, featuring the tournament logo along with the name of the host country.

A few weeks ago, there were calls for not wearing the start with Pakistan's name on it. Despite the speculations, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed that India would adhere to the ICC rules and have Pakistan's name on their jerseys. The development came after India refused to play in Pakistan, thus forcing ICC to adopt a hybrid model where India shall play all their matches in Dubai.

Meanwhile, some of the Indian players also received their ICC awards and team of the year cap at the photo-session event. In the ICC Awards, Rohit Sharma earned a spot in the ODI Team of the Year, while Ravindra Jadeja was recognized in the Test Team of the Year. Hardik Pandya and Arshdeep Singh were included in the T20I Team of the Year, with Arshdeep also securing the prestigious title of T20I Cricketer of the Year after a stellar season in the shortest format of the game.

India will be taking on Bangladesh to kickstart their Champions Trophy 2025 campaign. After the match against Bangladesh on February 20, Rohit Sharma and his team will face arch-rivals Pakistan on February 23.
