By Vishesh Shukla

As the highly anticipated Champions Trophy 2025 approaches, the spotlight shifts to team selections and preparations. Team India are set to announce their squad on January 18.

Several prominent names face uncertainty due to injuries, workload, or stiff competition. Here's a closer look at key players who might miss out on this prestigious tournament.

Here is the list of players who might miss CT 2025:

Jasprit Bumrah: Jasprit Bumrah delivered an exceptional performance in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, where he captained the side in the first and final matches of the five-match series. However, he suffered a back spasm during the last game and did not bowl in the final innings of the Sydney Test. His availability for the Champions Trophy 2025 squad is now uncertain.

Kuldeep Yadav: Kuldeep Yadav is currently rehabilitating at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, after sustaining an injury during the first Test match against New Zealand in October 2024. The NCA has not provided clearance on his availability.

KL Rahul: KL Rahul has been playing international cricket continuously in both the ODI and Test formats for the last six months. He requested leave for the series against England, but the selection committee rejected his request. Although the squad for the series has not been announced yet, if he plays in the England series, it might pose a risk to his availability for the full Champions Trophy tournament.

Sanju Samson: Sanju Samson might lose his spot in the Champions Trophy 2025 squad, as KL Rahul is likely to be the first-choice wicketkeeper, and Rishabh Pant could also be selected. With two wicketkeepers already in the squad, there may be no need for a third.

Washington Sundar: Washington Sundar may not get a spot in the 15-member squad, as the team already has two left-handed spin all-rounders in Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel. This lack of available space could be unfortunate for Sundar.
