Pakistan, the very name evokes thoughts of a rogue state, one which has slipped into further chaos. If the Champions Trophy, starting across the Indian border was supposed to change the image of a weak state, it has been to the contrary.

They are rogues and recalcitrant. If not, how can the Indian flag be missing from the stadium in Pakistan where other flags are aflutter? The excuse offered by Pakistan is weak, that India are not playing there. They will cheer and mock, in one breath, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.

They will post images of the Champions Trophy 2025 T-shirt and say the name of Pakistan is printed. If they are happy with this, brilliant. You will get nothing more from India. This was a chance for Pakistan to show a large heart, no they have not changed. And they will not change as they are a petty State in a pitiable state.

Sample the stadia construction, it was so badly delayed, that the ICC had a heart attack. It is to the credit of ICC boss Jay Shah, that he allowed the delay to happen. If not, they would have slammed the genial junior Shah, a tall figure in global cricket.

The official opening ceremony in Pakistan was put off. Why? India refused to play ball. There was almost a stampede at their stadium, people scaling walls like simians. This is their behaviour.

Truth be told, even though the lung opener of the Champions Trophy is in Pakistan on February 19, the real thrill will be felt in Dubai on February 20 when India play Bangladesh, another State which has collapsed. All the craze is for Indian stars in Dubai.

Pakistan are official hosts in Dubai but everyone knows the UAE is extending more than a helping hand. It's just a matter of time, before the real buzz shifts to Dubai. As it is, hotel rates, and packages for the India vs Pakistan match is soaring in Dubai. No, it's not because of Pakistan but India. The Indian star's power and charisma is intense.
