India's Shubman Gill has reclaimed the No.1 spot in the ICC Men's ODI Batting Rankings ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, surpassing Pakistan's Babar Azam in the latest update released on Wednesday.
Gill's impressive knock of 112 off 102 balls in the third ODI against England in Ahmedabad last week helped him amass 796 rating points, putting him 23 points clear of Babar. The Indian vice-captain returns to the top of the rankings after first achieving the feat during the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup in November 2023.

India now boasts four batters in the top 10. Captain Rohit Sharma is ranked third, while Virat Kohli holds the sixth spot. Additionally, Shreyas Iyer's crucial 78-run innings in the same match has propelled him one place higher to ninth.
Pakistan, gearing up for their Champions Trophy opener against New Zealand in Karachi, has also seen notable improvements in the rankings. Skipper Mohammad Rizwan climbed six places to 15th following his stellar performances in the recent Tri-Nation series, where he played an unbeaten 122 against South Africa and scored 46 in the final against New Zealand. Salman Agha, who was named Player of the Series with 219 runs, made a significant jump of 24 spots to secure 48th place after scoring 134 against South Africa and 45 in the final.
Other batters making gains include South Africa's Heinrich Klaasen, who has risen to fourth, while his teammates Aiden Markram and Temba Bavuma have moved up to 25th and 30th, respectively. New Zealand's Daryl Mitchell is now fifth, while Devon Conway (35th), Glenn Phillips (41st), and Tom Latham (42nd) have all made strides in the rankings.
In the bowling department, Sri Lanka's Mahesh Theekshana has overtaken Afghanistan's Rashid Khan to claim the No.1 spot. Meanwhile, South Africa's Keshav Maharaj has re-entered the rankings at sixth place. Other spinners making progress include New Zealand's Mitchell Santner (up to seventh) and England's Adil Rashid (now 22nd). Among pacers, Pakistan's Naseem Shah has climbed three spots to 45th.
With the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 just around the corner, these rankings reflect the form and momentum of players heading into the prestigious tournament.
