Champions Trophy 2025: Dubai played host to yet another historic moment in cricket as Virat Kohli etched his name in the record books by surpassing the great Sachin Tendulkar's long-standing record for the most 50-plus scores in ICC ODI tournaments.
The veteran batter achieved this remarkable feat during India's Champions Trophy 2025 semi-final win against Australia on Tuesday.

Displaying his characteristic composure, Kohli crafted a determined half-century, navigating the Australian bowling attack with finesse. This knock took his tally of 50-plus scores in ICC ODI tournaments to 24, surpassing Tendulkar's previous record of 23.
India's current skipper, Rohit Sharma, sits in third place with 18 such scores, while Sri Lanka's Kumar Sangakkara and Australia's Ricky Ponting follow with 17 and 16, respectively.
24 - Virat Kohli (53 innings)
23 - Sachin Tendulkar (58 innings)
18 - Rohit Sharma (42 innings)
17 - Kumar Sangakkara (56 innings)
16 - Ricky Ponting (60 innings)
Batting first, Australia managed to post a competitive 264 before being bowled out in 49.3 overs. Skipper Steve Smith led from the front with a well-compiled 73, while wicketkeeper-batter Alex Carey contributed a valuable 61.
India's bowling attack ensured that the total remained within reach. Mohammed Shami spearheaded the effort with three key wickets, while spinners Ravindra Jadeja and Varun Chakravarthy provided crucial breakthroughs with two scalps each.
In reply, the Men in Blue chased down the target 48.1 overs, thanks to Kohli's 84 and crucial contributions from KL Rahul (42) and Hardik Pandya (28) towards the fag end of the match.
King Kohli has been in stellar form throughout the competition, having already delivered a match-winning century against Pakistan earlier in Dubai. His latest innings further solidifies his reputation as a reliable performer in high-pressure situations, particularly after India lost openers Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma early in the chase.
Rohit Sharma and co. will now face either New Zealand or South Africa in Dubai on 9th March.
