The Champions Trophy 2025 encounter between South Africa and Australia today (Tuesday, Feb 25) has been abandoned due to weather conditions.
The rain, as predicted, has been pouring in Rawalpindi, which delayed the Toss and took a toll on the match itself. As the incessant rain didn't stop, it was deemed that the match be called off.

South Africa won the first match against Afghanistan, whereas Australia also secured a big victory over England in their first group stage match. As of now, the rain is incessant in Rawalpindi and if continues to pour for the next couple of hours, the chance of a match may well be in doubt.
AS Australia and South Africa are denied a match due to the weather conditions, both teams will share the spoils, which means they will get one point each from the encounter.
South Africa will remain at top of the Group B with 3 points in two matches. Australia shall have the same points with same number of matches, but the Proteas have a better Net Run Rate. England and Afghanistan, who lost their respective first matches, shall remain in their positions at 3rd and 4th respectively.
A washout in Australia vs South Africa also means the loser of the match between England and Afghanistan on Wednesday (Feb 26) will be eliminated from the Champions Trophy 2025.
The sharing of spoils also keeps Group B open as neither Australia nor South Africa have cemented their place in the semifinals. Both teams will have to ensure a victory in their respective final group-stage matches to ensure qualification.
The Group A is already decided as India and New Zealand have qualified for the semifinals, while Pakistan and Bangladesh are already eliminated. The match between India and New Zealand will now determine which team claims the top spot in the group.
