Senior trio of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja announced their retirment from T20 Internationals following India's triumph in the bygone T20 World Cup 2024 on Saturday (June 29) in Barbados.
While Rohit and Kohli revealed the T20 World Cup 2024 final was their last appearance in the format for India, Jadeja followed suit with an announcement via his social media account on Sunday (June 30).

After the trio confirmed their retirements from T20Is, ruling out their participation in the 2026 T20 World Cup, there have been questions over their white-ball future with the next ODI World Cup scheduled to be held three years from now.
The 2027 ODI World Cup may be too far for the ageing trio, but Rohit, Kohli and Jadeja have a great chance to feature in next year's Champions Trophy in Pakistan. BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has given an update about their possible appearance in the tournament.
Rohit, Kohli and Jadeja themselves have not drawn down the curtains on their ODI and Test career. Plus, Shah's comments to the media has also confirmed that the trio, who retired from T20I, will be part of the plans for Champions Trophy.
Talking to select media in Bridgetown, Shah lauded the contribution of senior players in the side's T20 World Cup triumph. With regards to the retired trio's participation in the next ICC event, Shah hinted that seniors will be part of the plans in ODIs and Tests.
"Transition has already happened with three greats retiring," Shah said when asked about his thoughts on the team's next phase following the retirement of the seasoned trio. The BCCI Secretary also revealed that Team India aims to win the WTC final Champions Trophy next.
"The way this team is progressing, our target is to win the World Test Championship final and Champions Trophy. There will be a similar squad playing there. The seniors will be there," he added.
Going by Shah's comments, this means that fitness permitting, senior players, including Rohit, Jadeja and Kohli, are likely to be available for the nine ODI matches that India will play before the Champions Trophy scheduled in February-March in Pakistan.
India's ODI assignments before the tournament in Pakistan, include three games each against Sri Lanka (away), New Zealand (home) and England (home). So, if the trio are part of the whole programme, they are likely to be part of Indian squad for Champions Trophy 2025.
