India continued their dominance in world cricket as the Men in Blue overcame New Zealand in the final of the Champions Trophy 2025 on Sunday in Dubai at the Dubai International Stadium.
India's spin duo of Kuldeep Yadav (2/40) and Varun Chakravarthy (2/45) played a key role in restricting New Zealand to 251 runs. In response, openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill provided a strong start with a 105-run stand, setting the stage for the chase.

However, a flurry of quick wickets, including Virat Kohli's departure for just one run, created tension in the middle overs.
Shreyas Iyer's composed 48-run innings, along with Axar Patel's steady contribution, helped India regain control. KL Rahul remained unbeaten on 34, ensuring stability as the chase neared its conclusion. In the final moments, Ravindra Jadeja struck the winning runs, sealing India's 4-wicket victory and triggering jubilant celebrations in the stadium.
Following the victory, India's rivals Pakistan, who were the hosts of the tournament were trolled heavily on social media. The Men in Green bowed out of the tournament in the group stages and as they agreed to the hybrid model prior to the competition, the final was also held outside Pakistan as India made their way to the final.
So in a way, they were probably the first hosts in the history of the Champions Trophy, not to host the summit clash in their backyard.
