Champions Trophy: Rogue state Pakistan cannot digest India calling the shots, including Jay Shah ascend the ICC throne

If you have watched Pakistan's social media handles in the last one week, it is pure vitriol. They have not been able to digest the fact India dares to repeatedly tell them, Pakistan is a terror state and travel across the border is impossible. It is not as if India had ever given a hint it would travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy in 2025.

Rewind to statement made by former Sports Minister Anurag Thakur, he never spoke of the Indian team getting clearance. Everyone knows, if the Indian team travels to Pakistan for cricket, the crazy cricket fans and trolls there in Lahore, Islamabad and Rawalpindi will still heap scorn in India. Most important, cricket in Pakistan can be cleared only by the highest office in India. And that is not happening.

Sample some of the posts over the last five days, each one is pathetic. Even former Pakistan cricketers are guilty of India-bashing. And this, after India was kind enough to allow three Pakistan cricketers to fly into India whenever they wished --- Wasim Akram, Shoaib Malik and Shiab Akhtar. Even now, some of them come to India as experts for the IPL or if there is some other cricket show. By and large, India has never been rabid in slamming Pakistan, like the terror state does.

A hybrid model for the Champions Trophy has been junked on an ego trip and what will be the fate of it, nobody knows. Geopolitics is changing, India is growing as a powerful nation in many ways. The image of Prime Minister Narendra Modi globally is soaring. He is seen as a messiah to many nations, so why will the Indian team travel to Pakistan.

No chance. Recently, Donald Trump has been elected as the President of the United States of America. Everyone knows the relation between India and the USA, something which was also highlighted by the External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar. Pakistan has to worry, not India. And cricket is the last thing which will hurt India.

It has been crazy to read posts from Pakistan on cricket that India is scared. Come on, why travel to a rogue state which perpetuates terror. Why travel to Pakistan, which kills Indian soldiers on the border or terrorists comes as far as Srinagar for jihad. Cricket with such a country is not needed, unless it become an ICC event. Nobody will shed a tear even if the Champions Trophy is scrapped or postponed. Pakistan's heartburn and acidity are bound to increase. They also know, if they are trying to embarrass Jay Shah rising to the throne in the ICC, nothing can be done.

Sone of Union Home minister Amit Shah, Jay Shah was chosen unopposed. All the important cricketing nations like England and Australia are fine with Jay Shah as ICC chairman. He did a good job in the Asian Cricket Council and will do the same in the ICC as well.

It is preposterous to suggest, as read on X and other platforms, Pakistanis suggest the ICC will suffer losses once Jay Shah takes over in 17 days. Come on, Pakistan, you are going to get isolated further. Jay Shah knows how to handle the ICC. The loss of face for Pakistan and possible financial penalties you will face will hurt more. The ICC is safe and so is world cricket.

If there is something called twisting the tail and going around with a begging bowl, Pakistan will be subjected to it. For the record, how many times they have lost to India in cricket has become a joke. The latest loss, of course, is in a failed cricket diplomacy!
