'Chance of Second Innings': As per Dalmiya's wishes, his eyes donated

Kolkata, Sep 21: The late BCCI president Jagmohan Dalmiya's eyes have been donated to an Eye Bank in Kolkata, as per his wishes, the Indian cricket board said on Monday.

Dalmiya passed away after suffering a massive cardiac arrest, at a hospital in Kolkata on Sunday (September 20) at the age of 75.

"As per the wishes of Mr. Jagmohan Dalmiya, who left for heavenly abode on 20th of September 2015, his eyes have been donated to Vanmukta Eye Bank, a part of Susrut Eye Foundation and Research Centre, Kolkata," BCCI said in a media statement today.

"It may be recalled that social welfare programmes about ' Eradication of Blindness' which included restoration of eye-sight through cornea grafting and transplantations were initiated by Mr. Dalmiya earlier.

"The themes were widely known as 'Cricket for Life beyond Death' and 'Chance of Second Innings'," it added.
