The visuals of fans trying to get access into the VIP entry at the National Stadium in Karachi has raised concerns over the security in the venue ahead of the Champions Trophy 2025, scheduled to begin on Wednesday (February 19).
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is set to host the ICC event, which returns after an 8-year hiatus, in hybrid model after Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) objected against sending their national team to the neighbouring country due to security concerns.

While the other competing cricket body's agreed to travel to Pakistan, the Indian cricket board followed what the government had asked them to do and refused to cross the borders, citing security as an issue.
PCB had assured tight security and also earned ICC's trust after hosting several teams in the country for bilateral series and the recent Tri-Series featuring New Zealand and Pakistan. The Pakistan Cricket Board also raced against time to get the venues ready for the eight-team tournament.
The Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore and National Stadium in Karachi underwent massive overhaul in the past few months to be ready for the tournament. PCB inaugurated both the venues ahead of the Tri-Series earlier this month.
The Prime Minister opened the renovated Lahore venue last week, while the grand inauguration of the Karachi venue took place earlier this week, and some alleged footages from the event has created a buzz around the security in place.
Social media was flooded with videos allegedly from the grand ceremony, capturing the excitement of passionate cricket fans with one viral clip showing enthusiastic spectators climbing walls and jumping railings in desperate attempt to enter the stadium.
As the entry was free for all during the grand openings, massive crowd gathered to catch a glimpse of the inauguration ceremony and their favorite cricket stars on stage during the eve of the Pakistan vs South Africa clash in Karachi.
The arrangements could be different for the Champions Trophy, where anyone interested to see the match will need to get a ticket. But these clips will be a concern among those travelling to Pakistan and the players themselves, who will be on field in action as there was another video of a fan breaching security to run into the ground during the opening ceremony.
