Chavan recommends Bharat Ratna for Sachin

Mumbai, Feb 27: Joining the nation in lauding Sachin Tendulkar's recording breaking 200 runs against South Africa in One Day International, Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan on Friday, Feb 26 recommended Bharat Ratna for the cricket maestro.

Chavan made the statement after a function organised by the Water Resources Ministry to mark Irrigation Day at the Sinchan Bhavan.

Similar suggestion for Bharat Ranta was also made by State Deputy Chief Minister Chhagan Bhujbal.

"We will ask the central government to award Bharat Ratna to Sachin, who has mesmerised cricket lovers the world over."

"Even cricketers around the globe are saying Sachin has attained a stature higher than that of legendary Sir Don Bradman," he said.

He said that a museum for Sachin is on the State government's list of plans to honor him.

Earlier, on Thursday, Feb 25, former wicket keeper of the Indian team Kiran More had asked MNS leader Raj Thackeray to establish a museum to collect and exhibit the cricket records and achievements of Tendulkar.
