Chennai: Cricketer from Tamil Nadu commits suicide

Chennai, Jun 12: A 20-year-old cricketer, PK Dharma, from Chennai, Tamil Nadu has been found dead in his house in Trustpuram, Kodambakkam on Sunday, Jun 10.

Police suspected that the young cricketer has committed suicide by hanging himself inside his room. Close relatives and friends claimed that Dharma, an all rounder, was a promising cricketer.

Reason behind Dharma's death is still unknown. Dharma's sudden death shocked many. Just a day ahead of his death, Dharma had played a cricket match for his club - Globe Trotters against Vijay CC at the Chidambaram Stadium.

The aspiring cricketer was a student of BE Mechanical engineering at City College. According to sources, everything was fine when Dharma played the three-day Tamil Nadu Cricketers' Association first-division final cricket match on Saturday.

Dharma, who made his List A debut in Feb 2011, made it to the limited-overs team after an injury to L Balaji. Kasi Viswanathan, the Secretary of The Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) club also expressed his shock at the grave incident.
