Kolkata, May 18 (UNI) Dashing the hopes of the demoralised Kolkata Knight Riders for resurgence after a humiliating drubbing by the Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings tonight humbled the host team by three runs through Duckworth and Lewis method.
The wind, which was blowing at a speed of 100 kmph, almost made the Eden Gardens wear a dishevelled look, and the umpires had no option but to resort to Duckworth and Lewis method to decide the fate of the crucial match much to the disappointment of the packed house.
When the play was stopped, Chennai Super Kings was on a roll with 55 runs on board for no loss, while at this stage Kolkata was 46 for the loss of two wickets.
It was a do or die battle for the host side, which was already tottering with ten points from eleven matches.
With this victory, the Chennai team had cemented its semis berth with 14 points from eleven matches.
