Clarke says 'speed' not needed to defeat Pak

By Super Admin

Dubai, Apr 22: Admitting that he did not have the kind of pace attack that Pakistan has, Australia's acting captain Michael Clarke has said that he will not need 'serious speed' to defeat Pakistan in the one-day series in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

"Speed obviously helps, but conditions will determine that. If the wickets are flat wickets it doesn't matter how fast you bowl, if you bowl in the wrong area you'll go for plenty of runs. We've got a lot of experience, Stuart Clark's been around for a long time, Nathan Bracken's a wonderful one-day bowler. Ben Hilfenhaus has done a wonderful job in the Test arena and he's making his way in the one-dayers, obviously Ben Laughlin and Dougy will both continue to look for opportunities," Fox Sports quoted Clarke, as saying.

"So, for me as a batsman, I see it as a wonderful opportunity to play against some fantastic quicks on what are hopefully going to be good wickets to test yourself," he said.

He further said, that Australia has a 'really good mix' with the five fast bowlers, including James Hopes and Andrew Symonds who can bowl some medium pacers.
