Confident Ponting expects to dominate Carribean series

Port of Spain, May 13 (UNI) Expecting a tough contest against the West Indies in the three-Test series starting at Sabina Park, Kingston on May 22, Australian captain Ricky Ponting said his team was expected to dominate the series.

''It's always a great place to come and play in the West Indies,'' Ponting told mediapersons after arriving here. ''I expect to win the series, but it's going to be a tough series between two good teams.'' Pointing out that despite the fact that the West Indies are currently ranked a lowly eighth, the 32-year-old Ponting said they have some quality players like skipper Chris Gayle, Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Ramnaresh Sarwan who can turn a game single handed.

Ponting, however, praised the hosts' bowling attack and said, ''this attack is probably a lot stronger than the last time we played them in Test cricket.'' ''Their attack is a lot better than it was a couple years ago, they now have a group of bowlers who have been playing together for some time now,'' he added.

Ponting also praised West Indies' recent performance and said,''looking at West Indies' recent tour of South Africa, they should have won it as they had dominated a couple of Tests.'' West Indies will start the series with their confidence high as they had done a good job in the past. They are coming off a 1-1 draw at home to Sri Lanka earlier this year, which followed a 2-1 defeat in South Africa in late 2007.
