Corbin Bosch will forever remember the Boxing Day Test of 2024, where he made his debut against Pakistan. The South African made an instant impact by taking a wicket off the very first ball of his Test career, making history as the first South African cricketer to do so.
Not only did Bosch shine with the ball, but he also impressed with the bat, scoring a half-century on the second day of the Test.

In doing so, Bosch became the first player in South African cricket history to score a half-century on debut while also taking 4 wickets.
His records didn't stop here. His knock of 81 set a new record, surpassing a 122-year-old milestone for the highest score by a South African debutant batting at No. 8 or lower. Additionally, it marked the first instance in Test cricket history where a player scored more than 80 on debut while batting at No. 9.
The 30-year-old, at number nine, played a dynamic knock of 81* and helped South Africa gain a 90-run lead in the first innings on the second day of the opening Test against Pakistan at SuperSport Park on Friday. South Africa posted a total of 301 in response to Pakistan's 211.
Pakistan kick-started their second innings with confidence, as Saim Ayub and Shan Masood added 49 runs for the opening wicket, taking an aggressive approach against the new ball. However, the introduction of Kagiso Rabada and Marco Jansen shifted the momentum. Rabada struck with a brilliant delivery to dismiss Ayub, while Jansen quickly removed Masood and Kamran Ghulam. At the close of play, Pakistan were 88 for 3, trailing by two runs, with Saud Shakeel (8*) and captain Babar Azam (16*) at the crease, tasked with stabilizing the innings.
Day 3 is expected to be crucial. Pakistan's middle order must rise to the occasion if they are to set a difficult target for South Africa, while the home team will look to take full advantage of the conditions. The stage is set for an exciting continuation of this captivating match.
