CPL 2024 Final: Saint Lucia Kings have etched their name in history by claiming their first-ever Caribbean Premier League (CPL) title in 2024, defeating Guyana Amazon Warriors by six wickets at the Providence Stadium in Georgetown on October 7.
After years of near misses, the Kings finally broke through, led by pivotal performances from Aaron Jones and Roston Chase in a thrilling run chase as the duo achieved the modest target of 139 with 11 balls to spare after the Warriors struggled to put up a competitive total on a sluggish pitch.

Their innings was anchored by small contributions from Dwaine Pretorius (25) and Shai Hope (22), but they were stifled by Saint Lucia's bowlers, particularly Noor Ahmad, who shone with figures of 3-19. Guyana's batsmen never found momentum, managing only 27 runs in the powerplay and faltering further as wickets fell regularly.
In response, Saint Lucia Kings faced early challenges. Faf du Plessis and Johnson Charles couldn't generate significant runs, and by the halfway point, the Kings were in deep trouble at 51/4, with the required run rate climbing steeply. It was at this critical juncture that Aaron Jones and Roston Chase turned the game around with a brilliant partnership.
Chase, initially struggling at 14 off 15, accelerated his innings, smashing 39 off 22 balls. Jones, who had also started cautiously, played an equally important role, finishing unbeaten on 48 off 31 balls. The duo combined for an unbeaten 88-run partnership, launching a counterattack in the final five overs to wrestle back control.
Jones and Chase capitalised on a 27-run over off Moeen Ali, which dramatically swung the game in Saint Lucia's favour. Jones then took the reins, hitting two sixes and a four in a crucial 20-run over off Pretorius. By the time Guyana brought Romario Shepherd back into the attack, the momentum had fully shifted, and Jones comfortably sealed the victory with a six and a four.
For Saint Lucia, this triumph marks their long-awaited first CPL title after several seasons of near success. With Chase and Jones delivering under pressure, the Kings completed their redemption story in emphatic fashion.
