The inclusion of Todd Murphy, the heir apparent of off-spinner Nathan Lyon, and the exclusion of Matthew Wade are the major highlights from Cricket Australia's (CA) new expanded 24-player national men's contract list which was announced on Thursday.
Murphy, 22, picked 14 wickets in four matches and was mighty impressive during Australia's India tour for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2023. Keeping in mind the upcoming World Test Championship (WTC) final, the Ashes in England and the ODI World Cup - four additional fast bowlers have been included.

The selection panel led by former captain George Bailey has taken up the four additional contract spots under the new Memorandum of Understanding announced earlier this week. Sean Abbott, Lance Morris, Michael Neser and Jhye Richardson have all earned contracts.
