Cricket betting busted in Ganganagar
Jaipur, Feb 17 (UNI) Ganganagar police today arrested six people including a Congress leader in connection with cricket betting.
According to district superintendent of police Vinita Thakur, all the six have been arrested from a hotel owned by a BJP leader while indulging in betting on today's India-Sri Lanka ODI at Vishakhapatnam.
She said a police team led by trainee IPS officer Paramjyoti raided the Marriage Palace hotel at Suratgarh road and arrested Jaideep Bihani, Durgaprasad Mundra, Anil Singhal alias Chidiya, Rajesh Apthni , Govind Agarwal, and Adovate Virendra Sigaha.
The police also seized eight mobile phones, two landline phones, a home theatre TV and a computer with printer. The police also seized Rs.70,000 in cash and a book containing details of betting.
Jaideep Bihani is the treaurer of the District Congress Committee while Anil Singhal's wife is a member of the Ganganagar Municipal Council. Sanjay Mundra, who is the owner of the Marriage Palace hotel is a BJP leader.
