As the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 fever has well and truly gripped the nation, India cricketer Mayank Agarwal took a live question-and-answer session where he spilled some beans about his teammates on the national side.
The rapid-fire round happened on JioCinema's daily show '#AAKASHVANI', anchored by cricket commentator Aakash Chopra, where the Karnataka cricketer discussed his teammates' on-the-field and off-the-field presence, distinctive character traits, amusing tendencies, among other things.

When asked about gym freak in the team, Agarwal acknowledged himself as a fitness enthusiast, only second to former India skipper Virat Kohli who is widely renowned for his athletic prowess and strict fitness regimen. "I think I am a gym freak. Probably not more than Virat Kohli but I definitely think I am one," Mayank said.
When asked about the player who spends a significant amount of time on social media, Agarwal named Umran Malik, indicating that the young paceman has a keen interest in the digital realm and social networking. "There are many people, but I think Umran Malik is one for sure," he said.
As per Agarwal, his Karnataka teammate and old friend, KL Rahul, known for his majestic batting style, also stands out due to his tranquil demeanor and collected nature both on and off the cricket field. "KL Rahul is very relaxed and calm," he added.
Ishan Kishan was singled out by Agarwal as the jester within the team. Despite his limited interaction with Kishan, Agarwal praised him for his sense of humor and light-hearted persona. "Ishan Kishan. I haven't played a lot with him but he's a pretty funny guy," Agarwal added.
Agarwal confessed to being the chatterbox of the team, continually engaged in discussions and respectful banter that keeps him more immersed in the dynamics of the game. However, he firmly stated that his talking never resorted to sledging.
"I think that would be me. I keep talking, not sledging though. It keeps me a lot more involved in the game," the stylish right-handed batter said when asked about the chatterbox in the Indian team.
Agarwal sees Ravichandran Ashwin, who has a unique grasp and interpretation of the game, as a likely future cricket commentator. He lauded Ashwin for his deep cricketing knowledge and aptitude for keen analysis. "Ravichandran Ashwin. The amount of knowledge he has and the way he analyses the game is very different," he said.
Agarwal didn’t reject the idea of a possible future in coaching. Although he said it's too early to speculate, he did not entirely discard the possibility. "Never say never. I wouldn't rule out the option. There's a lot of time to think about that," Mayank added.
According to Agarwal, Vidwath Kaverappa, a first-class player from Karnataka, embodies optimism in the team through his positive outlook. "Vidwath Kaverappa (Karnataka First Class player). He's very optimistic," said the India Test cricketer.
The 'cricket nerd' title went to Hanuma Vihari, as per Agarwal's perception. He stated that Vihari’s fascination for and knowledge of the game remains unbeaten. "Hanuma Vihari. Nobody beats him in that category," Agarwal added further.
In conclusion, the quiz offered a fun and insightful peek into the India cricket team's locker room. The interactions exhibited camaraderie and shared respect among the players, each with their unique strengths and quirks contributing to the team's vibrant atmosphere.
