New Delhi, Mar 7: Former cricket captain of Team India and Congress MP, Mohammed Azharuddin finally succeeded to avert arrest but he has been slapped with a fine of Rs 15 lakh over the cheque bounce case.
A Delhi court on Wednesday, Mar 7 said, "If settlement had to be done, it could have been done on the first date itself. As the accused (Azharuddin) showed utter disdain to the court and wasted its time and did not appear (before it) for this reason, I do not find any reason why the court should not impose the cost."
The court earlier had issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against Azhar. The court issued the non-bailable warrant against him (Azhar) as a cheque allegedly given by the former Team India captain bounced.
