Cricketer Monty Panesar 'invites' an American to room, criticized

Melbourne, Jan 6: It was as if his miserable defeat in the Ashes was not enough for humiliation that cricketer Monty Panesar attempted to tempt a blonde to his hotel room after the tournament.

He used a dating app-Tinder-on his phone to try and seduce the lady into his hotel room. However, Allison (the victim) admits that she had spotted him first when he uploaded a picture of him batting against Australia. The spin bowler chatted her up and invited her to his hotel room for a drink. However, the victim claimed that she was just interested in talking cricket as the Australian match was her first live cricket experience the day before.

"I thought it was a bit strange he would be behaving like that so soon after they had lost. I wanted to talk to him about cricket but he had no intentions of that. All he seemed interested in was getting me over to the hotel. I sent him a message because I wondered whether it was really him. I was shocked when it turned out to be so, " she said.

Giving out further details, Allison said that he sent her a string of messages saying how he loved American girls and asked her what she was doing that night and invited her at the hotel room at Como, complaining that players were not allowed to go out.

Panesar had hit the headlines earlier too. First, it was his bitter split with his wife Gursharan Rattan when he was ordered by the court to stay away from her in 2011. Last summer, he was said to have been arrested for urinating on club bouncers in Brighton and was then suspended by his county Northamptonshire.

He got a chance to prove himself when he got selected in the Ashes surprisingly. Despite his vow to repay the team for trusting him, he faired poorly against Australia, leading to an 8-wicket defeat in Melbourne and his exclusion from the final test in Sydney.
