Cricketers pay rich tributes to India's 'greatest President' APJ Abdul Kalam

Bengaluru, July 27: Present and former cricketers today paid rich tributes to former Indian President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, who passed away at a private hospital in Shillong.

83-year-old Kalam, who served as India's 11th President from 2002 to 2007, collapsed while delivering a lecture to the students at the Indian Institute of Management in Shillong, Meghalaya, on Monday evening. He was admitted to a private hospital in critical condition.

Sachin Tendulkar, Anil Kumble, VVS Laxman, Bishan Singh Bedi and the entire cricket fraternity was in shock after hearing the sad news of Kalam's demise. They took to the micro-blogging site Twitter to mourn the sudden loss.

Tendulkar said Kalam was "an inspiration to all and a terrific human being". Bedi called Kalam as India's "greatest President".

India's Test captain Virat Kohli described Kalam as "role model for so many, a visionary leader and a person with an indomitable spirit."
