T20 threatens Test cricket, echoes legendary trio

By Staff
Mumbai, June 6 : Unveiling the Castrol Asian cricket awards, former Pakistani captain Wasim Akram said Twenty20 stood more for entertainment than the nuances of Test cricket.

"Five day cricket when you play then you will know how to get batsmen out. Then batsmen will know how to get 100 or how to see off a new ball, and how to see off the old ball. So that's a huge difference. So you should take 2020 as entertainment. We should judge a player in my opinion from that particular format of the game," said Akram. The recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL) that provided wholesome entertainment could turn out to be the bench mark for the future, former skipper Rahul Dravid who captained the Bangalore Royal Challengers in IPL, said.

The life-size replica of the Asia Cup Trophy was unveiled in the presence of the three brand ambassadors - Akram, Dravid and Sri Lankan batsman Sanath Jayasurya. Castrol Asian cricket award ceremony will be held in Karachi on June 27 during the Asia Cup.The six-nation Asia Cup will be played in Pakistan from June 24 to July 6.
