MS Dhoni faces Virat Kohli in a blockbuster IPL 2024 opener as defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will host Southern rivals Royal Challengers Bangalore at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on March 22.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Thursday (February 22) released the partial schedule for the upcoming Indian Premier League season 17. The schedule released for dates March 22 to April 7 will feature 21 matches of which CSK will play four.

After hosting Kohli's RCB in the tournament opener, Dhoni & Co will welcome the runners up from last season Gujarat Titans to Chepauk for their second match of the season in a rematch from last season's final.
Shubman Gill will make his captaincy debut for Gujarat Titans against former captain Hardik Pandya-led Mumbai Indians, and within two days head to Chennai for his second match to face Dhoni's side.
CSK, who host RCB and GT at home, will then be travelling for their next two matches, starting with the first stop in Visakhapatnam, where Delhi Capitals will host the defending champions at the Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy Cricket Stadium.
After their travels to Vizaq, the Yellow brigade will head to neighbours for another Souther derby as Sunrisers Hyderabad take on CSK at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
