MS Dhoni (₹4 Crore - Retained)
MS Dhoni is registered as an uncapped player for IPL 2025 due to the new rule by the organisers allowing former international players to appear as uncapped players if they haven’t played any international game in five years. The name needs no introduction, given his exploits as a five-time IPL champion and two-time World Cup-winning captain. Dhoni is considered a genius of the game, with a legendary IPL career spanning multiple seasons.
Anshul Kamboj (₹3.4 Crore)
Anshul Kamboj, the former Mumbai Indians pacer, received a remarkable bid in the IPL 2025 auction. The 23-year-old fast bowler, with a base price of ₹30 lakh, became the subject of an intense bidding war between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians. Ultimately, Chennai Super Kings secured his services for ₹3.4 crore.
Kamboj’s impressive performance in recent domestic cricket played a significant role in generating interest from IPL teams. The Haryana-based bowler made history by taking all 10 wickets in a single innings against Kerala during a Ranji Trophy match on November 15. In just 30.1 overs, he claimed 10 wickets for 49 runs, becoming only the third bowler in Ranji Trophy history to achieve this remarkable feat.
Prior to Kamboj, only Bengal's Premangshu Chatterjee (1956) and Rajasthan's Pradeep Sundaram (1985) had accomplished the rare feat of taking 10 wickets in a single innings. Kamboj now joins an elite list of Indian bowlers, including Anil Kumble, Subhash Gupte, and Debashish Mohanty, who have achieved this milestone in first-class cricket.
Kamboj has played 17 first-class matches, claiming 19 wickets at an economy rate of 8.18, and in 19 matches, he has taken a total of 57 wickets. His IPL career, though brief, includes 3 matches for Mumbai Indians in which he took 2 wickets. Given his recent form and potential, Chennai Super Kings made the strategic move to bring him into their squad, where he could be a valuable asset in the coming seasons.
Gurjapneet Singh (₹2.2 Crore)
Gurjapneet Singh was picked up by Chennai Super Kings for a price of ₹2.2 crore, after seeing off competition from LSG and GT. A 6'3" Ludhiana-born left-arm seamer, Gurjapneet has been making waves in the southern part of India. Having moved to Chennai at the age of 17, Gurjapneet made his first-class debut for Tamil Nadu in the current Ranji season.
He went wicketless in his maiden innings, but in the second innings, he picked up 6 for 22 to skittle Saurashtra out for 94 and star in Tamil Nadu's innings victory. He has since picked up at least one wicket in each of his innings and impressed in his T20 debut, taking 2 for 28 in his first Syed Mustaq Ali Trophy game against Tripura.
Gurjapneet first came into the picture in the Tamil Nadu Premier League in 2021, featuring for Dindugal Dragons, captained by R Ashwin, who will be his team-mate again at CSK. He picked up seven wickets in 9 matches, and had an economy of 6.54 in his first TNPL season. Having been on the sidelines due to an injury in 2022, Gurjapneet turned up for Siechem Madurai Panthers in TNPL 2023 and finished as the tournament's joint second-highest wicket-taker with 15 scalps.

Rasheed played a match-winning half-century against England in the final of the 2022 U-19 World Cup.
Although Rasheed has yet to play a match for CSK, he has shown his potential in various formats, especially in the Ranji Trophy, where he recently scored a double century against Hyderabad. Trained at Ravindra Cricket Academy, Vansh made a name for himself in the DDCA league with back-to-back centuries in the Ganesh Goswami tournament and emerged as the leading batter in the Sahibzada T20 tournament with over 550 runs. His impressive stats made him a hot pick in the IPL 2025 auction, and CSK will now look to develop him under the guidance of MS Dhoni.
