MS Dhoni should play 2-3 more years in IPL, advises his CSK teammate

Chennai Super Kings are preparing for a grand IPL 2024 after their triumphant season last year.

The five-time IPL champions will be led by their talismanic star MS Dhoni, and amid his retirement speculations, Dhoni's CSK teammate Deepak Chahar has different things in his mind.

Deepak Chahar, who will be playing alongside Dhoni in IPL 2024, believes the veteran can still play for two or three more in the IPL if he wants.

"He has recovered well. For me personally, he should play for another 2-3 years. But it's his call. He told everyone he is going to play his last game in Chennai. I think he will only decide", Chahar said while talking to PTI.

Chahar also advises Dhoni to not take the extra burden of the team and to enjoy the last leaps.

"He should not be taking it at this time because it is the end of his career. He should be enjoying not taking responsibility and pressure for the team," Chahar added.

The 31-year-old has played for India in the limited-overs formats. He has 47 international wickets to his name and credits Dhoni for his India stint.

"I would say because of him only I got a chance to play for India because before that, he gave me a really big chance to play all the 14 games in IPL. In 2018, I played all the 14 games", the CSK pacer concluded.

Chahar was ruled out of IPL 2022 with an injury but played 10 matches last season, picking up 13 wickets. He will be hoping to resurrect his India career as he dons the Yellow of the Super Kings in the coming months.
