CSK Playoff Qualification Scenario: How can Chennai Super Kings Qualify for Playoffs after defeat against RCB?
Chennai Super Kings have endured a nightmare start to IPL 2026, losing their first three matches and sitting at the bottom of the points table with a dismal net run rate.
Defeats to Rajasthan Royals (by 8 wickets), Punjab Kings (by 5 wickets), and a crushing chase against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (by 43 runs) have left Ruturaj Gaikwad's side with zero points and plenty of questions.

CSK in Deep Trouble
As the Chennai Super Kings have made yet another shocking start to the season, it has further jeopardized their playoff hopes. After failing to miss out on playoffs in the last two seasons, another barren run would mean a huge blow for them.
CSK Playoffs Qualification Scenario
But the dark tunnel may still have light at the end. With 11 matches still remaining, a place in the playoffs is not completely out of question for Ruturaj Gaikwad and his team.
In a 14-match league phase, CSK now face an 11-game mountain. History shows that eight wins often guarantee a top-four spot, while nine almost certainly do.
Starting 0-3, the five-time champions must win at least eight of their remaining 11 fixtures. Anything less, especially with their heavily damaged NRR, will make qualification almost impossible.
The schedule offers a lifeline. CSK have six of their next 11 games at home at the Chepauk, starting with Delhi Capitals on April 11. Strong home performance is needed for them, but things haven't been rosy at Chepauk as well, where the Super Kings have lost six in a row.
Past seasons have seen CSK recover from slow starts, but this 0-3 hole is deeper than usual, compounded by MS Dhoni's absence from the first three games. The Yellow Army's legendary experience and home-crowd energy remain their biggest assets.
