CSK vs DC, IPL 2025: What was the Turning Point as Capitals rejoice against hapless Super Kings?

By MyKhel Staff

A hapless Chennai Super Kings side suffered third defeat in a row in the IPL 2025 season as Delhi Capitals beat them by 25 runs at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Saturday (April 5).

The Capitals secured their first victory at Chepauk since 2010, thus winning their first three matches of the season.

CSK vs DC

After winning the toss and opting to bat first, Delhi Capitals put up a competitive total of 183 for 6 in their 20 overs. KL Rahul anchored the innings with a superb 77 off 51 deliveries, laced with six boundaries and three towering sixes. He was well-supported by Abishek Porel, who provided early momentum with a quickfire 33 off 20 balls. In the death overs, Tristan Stubbs played a handy cameo, remaining unbeaten on 24 from just 12 balls. Among the Chennai Super Kings bowlers, Khaleel Ahmed stood out with figures of 2 for 25.

In reply, CSK's chase never really got going, faltering against a disciplined bowling effort from the Capitals. Top-order batters Ruturaj Gaikwad (5), Rachin Ravindra (3), and Devon Conway (13) failed to make an impact, leaving the middle order under pressure. Vijay Shankar offered some resistance with a gritty half-century but couldn't threaten the target. MS Dhoni played a few trademark strokes late in the innings, but the required rate was always out of reach.

Leg-spinner Vipraj Nigam impressed with two key wickets, while the pace attack kept things tight to ensure a comfortable win for Delhi Capitals.

CSK vs DC: What was the Turning Point of the Match?

The Delhi Capitals were on top of the Super Kings at the majority part of the match. Axar Patel's team was aided by a magnificent knock by KL Rahul, and then their bowlers did the job perfectly to defend the score.

And the Turning Point of the match was the way their pacers started early in the CSK chase. Mukesh Kumar knocked over Rachin Ravindra and then Mitchell Starc sent captain Ruturaj Gaikwad back in the hut. Then Devon Conway was also picked up within the powerplay by leg-spinner Vipraj Nigam. CSK lost three wickets in the powerplay and then lost two more within a span of an over, which annihilated their chances in the match.
