Chennai Super Kings have secured yet another IPL final date this season. After an outstanding season, the MS Dhoni-led side will be up against Gujarat Titans in the grand finale of the tournament on Sunday (May 28) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
CSK finished the season second with 17 points. They won Qualifier 1 against GT earlier this week at the MA Chidambaram Stadium to book the final berth.

As the coveted franchise are on the threshold of another monumental record, here we take a look at three records which will occur if the Chennai-based franchise wins the IPL this year.
This is Chennai Super Kings' 10th IPL Final appearance. Previously, out of nine appearances, the MS Dhoni-led team has won the trophy four times. This is also the first time a team has reached the final in double-digit numbers.
If Chennai Super Kings win the final on Sunday, they will join the Mumbai Indians with 5 IPL titles. CSK thus far have 4 IPL titles, while MI have 5 IPL titles.
CSK IPL Winning Years - 2010, 2011, 2018, 2021
MI IPL Winning Years - 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, 2020
It will also equal MS Dhoni as the most successful captain along with MI captain Rohit Sharma. If CSK win the final, both will have 5 IPL wins as captains in their kitty, Rohit albeit has won one more during his Deccan Chargers days.

CSK's captain supremo MS Dhoni has been a stalwart for them. If they win on Sunday against the Gujarat Titans, Dhoni will become the oldest captain in history to lead his team to an IPL win at the age of 41 years.
It will also be a massive moment for the Indian stalwart amid his retirement speculations.
If Ruturaj Gaikwad scores 36 or more runs in the final and CSK win the trophy, the CSK opener will be the only player to have scored 600+ runs in two different title-winning seasons for an IPL team.

The Chennai batter scored 635 runs in IPL 2021, and is currently on 564 runs for them this season.
