And for showing some terrific batting performance, the Titans batter was awarded as the Most Valuable Player of the Tournament. Despite GT's disappointing loss in the final, it has been a stellar season for some of their players and Gill is at the very top of that.

Gill was asked about his feelings after winning the award, and the GT batter feels his hard work is paying off and going in the right direction.

Means a lot, my hard work is going in the right direction. We couldn't win the final, but it was one hell of a game. It is very important to start well and I started well, I was getting 40s and 50s and at the end of the tournament I converted them into big ones," Gill said in the post-match presentation.

A significant change in GIll's batting this season has been his ability to hit sixes. A player as elegant as Gill has shown the power-hitting side of his as well, by clearing the fence 33 times this season. And the 23-year-old says he had to change his technique to bring the six-hitting forte.

The India batter also scored 3 centuries this season. He scored his maiden ton in the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, then scored two more against RCB and MI respectively. His 129 runs knock against MI in Qualifier 2 is the highest individual score of IPL 2023 season.

When asked to pick his favourite one, the GT batter claimed all of those knocks were different.

"All the hundreds were quite different, the SRH one was about control and MI one was knowing which bowlers to go after. I picked the right bowlers, and controlled the situation well," Gill concluded.

The Indian batter's focus will now shift to national colours as he prepares to fly to England soon. India are up against Australia in the WTC Final and the GT batter will play a big part in it.
