Chennai, May 13: Former champions clash as four-time winners Chennai Super Kings host two-time winners Kolkata Knight Riders in match 61 of IPL 2023 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday (May 14).
Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s CSK will look to consolidate their position in the top two of the IPL 2023 points table, while Nitish Rana-led KKR will look to end the season on a high after their playoff hopes received a huge dent in their last outing.

As it stands, CSK are in second position in the IPL 2023 points table with 15 points, while KKR occupy the seventh spot with 10 points, and a defeat on Sunday (May 14) will all but end their chances of finishing in the top four.
CSK will be a confident side thanks to the reverse fixture win and their overall record against Kolkata Knight Riders. KKR also has a poor record on their visits to the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
In the 28 meetings between the two sides in IPL since 2008, CSK has a clear advantage having won 18 times against KKR, who have won 9 times against the Chennai-based franchise, while 1 match has ended in No Result. In the last 5 meetings, it’s 4-1 in favour of CSK.
In the reverse fixture at Eden Gardens, CSK rode on fifties from Ajinkya Rahane, Devon Conway and Shivam Dube to set huge total of 235, but the hosts fell short of the target by 49 runs despite fighting fifties from Jason Roy and Rinku Singh.
In Chennai at the MA Chidambaram, CSK and KKR have clashed 9 times so far, and it's advantage hosts CSK as they have beaten KKR in their home venue 7 times, while the Kolkata-based side has won just 2 times against CSK in their own backyard.
