CSK vs KKR, IPL 2023 Match 61: MA Chidambaram Stadium Chennai Pitch Report and Weather Forecast

Chennai Super Kings host Kolkata Knight Riders in match 61 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on double-header Sunday (May 14), with the game set to start at 7:30 PM IST.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led CSK head into the match on the back of their seventh of the season, while KKR led by Nitish Rana are fresh from their seventh loss of the campaign. CSK, who has one No Result, has won 7 in 12, whereas KKR has won 5 in 12.

The two sides will clash for the second time this season and for the first time since 2019 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, which will host it's sixth match of the season. CSK has won three and lost two so far at their fortress - the den in Chepauk.

CSK defeated Lucknow Super Giants in the opener by 12 runs, but suffered a loss to Rajasthan Royals by 3 runs before they bounced back with a victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad by 7 wickets.

The hosts, however, were once again pegged back by a 4-wicket defeat to Punjab Kings in a high-scoring match before bouncing back with a huge 6-wicket win over Mumbai Indians followed by a 27-run victory over Delhi Capitals.

Ahead of CSK vs KKR 2023 meeting at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, we take a look at the pitch report and weather forecast for the day as some parts of the country have received summer showers.

Chennai weather forecast on Sunday, May 14

A partly cloudy with maximum temperature of 33o C. Although there is 39% cloud cover, there is no chance of rain throughout the day. So, weather is unlikely to play spoilsport in match between Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders.

The first match of 2023 season saw the hosts dokkrnate with the bat, riding on a great start from openers Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway to set up a total of 217, while Moeen Ali did the damage with ball as they restricted Lucknow Super Giants to 205.

In the second match, Ravindra Jadeja spell helped restrict Rajasthan Royals to 175, but the hosts fell short of the target by just 3 runs despite a Conway fifty and MS Dhoni's unbeaten cameo of 32 from 17 balls.

In the third match, Jadeja's three-wicket haul helped CSK restrict Sunrisers Hyderabad to a paltry 134 before Conway's unbeaten 77 saw the team home with 8 balls to spare. In the fourth match, however, PBKS pulled off a huge run chase over the hosts in a last-ball thriller.

In the fourth match, CSK beat their rivals MI after Matheesha Pathirana helped restrict the record champions to just 139 and Conway scored 44 as the hosts chased down the target with 14 balls to spare.

In the fifth and most recent match, CSK beat DC by 27 runs after MS Dhoni's cameo helped them to a challenging total of 167, while Pathirana and Deepak Chahar did the job with the ball, restricting the visitors to 140.
