Defending champions Chennai Super Kings will look to get back to winning ways and avenge the reverse fixture loss on their return to home when they host Lucknow Super Giants in match 39 of IPL 2024 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Tuesday (April 23).
Ruturaj Gaikwad’s CSK head into the match on the back of a defeat to LSG in the reverse fixture at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow on Friday (April 19) when KL Rahul scored 82 off 53 balls to power his team past the target of 177 with 8 wickets and 6 balls to spare.

Before that encounter, CSK had won two games in a row versus Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians to move into the top four, while LSG lost ground in the playoff race following back to back defeats to Delhi Capitals and KKR.
Now the action shifts to the Den, where CSK has won three in three this season, but will be wary of their recent meeting away from home against the Lucknow Super Giants.
CSK will be a confident side thanks to their overall dominant record at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, where they beat LSG last season, but will be cautious against a team that has had the edge in the head to head record over them in the last three seasons.
In the 4 CSK vs LSG head to head meetings in IPL, Lucknow Super Giants took a slight edge against Chennai Super Kings, having won the reverse fixture last week by chasing down 177 with 8 wickets in hand.
In their previous meeting at the Ekana Stadium, the game was abandoned due to rain. In the two other meetings, LSG beat CSK in 2022 season after chasing down 211 at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai, while CSK defended 217 against LSG at the Chepauk in 2023.
