Chennai Super Kings captain Ruturaj Gaikwad played superbly to score his 2nd IPL century against Lucknow Super Giants on Tuesday (April 22).
Ruturaj Gaikwad opened the innings for CSK, and despite losing partners at the other end, held his inning together and showcased exquisite batting prowess to get to the three-figure marks.

Gaikwad stitched a mammoth partnership of 104 runs in just 47 balls with Shivam Dube as CSK posted 210 runs in 20 overs. Gaikwad himself remained unbeaten with 108 runs in just 60 deliveries, hitting 12 fours and 3 sixes in the process.
The CSK captain was the aggressor in the first part of the innings, but anchored after Shivam Dube's arrival, who went berserk by scoring 66 runs off just 27 balls.
Gaikwad's magnificent knock was hailed by the Twitteratti, who heaped praises on the player. With the century, Gaikwad has also returned in the race to make the India squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup.
Gaikwad has also become the first CSK captain to score a century in IPL. Previously, MS Dhoni's 84 was the highest score by a Chennai captain in the tournament.

"It has been a joy, a privilege to see this display of classic batsmanship from Gaikwad. I will remember this century for a long time. CSK, you have a gem," wrote Harsha Bhogle.
